A burial ceremony was held at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends gathered to bid farewell to James.
James's mother, brothers and brother-in-law are also buried in the same cemetery.

The comfort of having a friend may be taken away, but not that of having had one.

What a life! What a party! Many family and friends came to “celebration of life” award-winning writer and editor James McKinnon. Hosted by James brother Dean and sister Donna, the event was a true celebration. James brother Dean shared poignant memories of his brother that moved us with both humour and some tears. Great memories were shared over good food and drink. James, known for an adventuresome life, humour and intellect, will be missed.
